Plasnewydd

Beat Description:

Predominantly salmon and sea trout but improving brown trout.

The shorter stretch of fishing on the left bank up from Pont y Cambwll is reasonable access in all respects good for all methods. Can be difficult under foot due to uneven field with many cow “ruts” so take care. The higher section of this side is inaccessible and high banked. The right bank up is initially difficult to access but this improves as you walk further up the beat. The banks are currently overgrown in many places making access difficult, but there are a number of good pools and runs. Well suited to all methods. About half way up the beat are the “Burma steps”: Steps cut into the side of a steep hill which it is necessary to cross to access the fishing further up so if you prefer the top section it will be easier to approach from the top of the beat. The left bank down is our fishing and gives access to a number of holding pools and is good for all methods.

This beat holds a better heads of native trout as well as stocked fish that make their own way down after having been out in the river some way up stream.
