Greenbank & Perthewig

Beat Description:

Predominantly salmon and sea trout.

The top end of the beat has difficult access to the left hand bank coming down from the bridge for the first three hundred meters or so, but the accessible stretch does have some nice pools, however the water from this bank is difficult to fly fish, much easier from the other bank. In the field above the car park is Hughes Pool, suitable for all methods. This is the only named pool on this beat, but there are many and varied pools down the whole length of this beat. There are many stretches of water accessible to all methods. Watch out for the few crossing points. This beat is far less treed and access is generally good throughout the beat.

The fish population is similar to Llanerch, but there is the likelihood of stock fish having been washed down after a head of water following stocking of the river on beats above. Suitable for all methods but again on many stretches the fly needs to be worked to achieve success.

There are small stretches of high bank, which in the sandy soil can become undercut by the winter floods so beware getting too near the edge. These are not frequent and easily identified.
